About The Book Dragon
Every good bookstore needs a guardian, and ours is Solomon.
The Book Dragon is an independent bookstore in the heart of Ville Platte, Louisiana, presided over by Solomon — our resident dragon, keeper of stories, and the true owner of this establishment. The shelves are his hoard: treasures stacked floor to ceiling, from beloved classics to brand-new releases, all worth guarding.
Of course, even a dragon needs hands that fit through doorways. That's where Seth and Jessica Norris come in. Seth is a CPA with a deep nerdy streak and a love of science fiction — the one who'll happily talk your ear off about the book that bent his brain in the best way.
Jessica is an author who writes young adult fantasy under the pen name Jessica Deen Norris, with a lifelong devotion to dragons. When the two of them decided to open a bookstore, Jessica knew right away that The Book Dragon couldn't just be a name on the door. It needed a dragon — a real one, with opinions and a hoard and a personality. And so Solomon became our noble curator.
Step inside and you'll join the Book Dragons, our community of readers who know the right story is worth more than gold. Hunt for epic fantasy, a cozy mystery, or a picture book for the little ones. Build your own Dragon's Hoard through our loyalty program, place a special order for that hard-to-find title, or stop by for one of our events.
Rooted in South Louisiana and a deep love of all things Cajun, The Book Dragon was built to be a destination — a place to linger, discover, and belong.
Come find your story. Solomon's been expecting you (and Seth and Jessica or one of our lovely booksellers will help you out).
